The Prison Healer by Lynette Noni

5.0

This was a speed pick up at B&N when looking for a book for myself after choosing books for a friend- and it was worth it.
PROS:
Awesome story
Badass characters
GOOD romance (finally!)
Unique setting
Plot twists

CONS:
Feeling of repetitiveness
Cliffhanger (not that this is a big problem, but a problem nonetheless)

I'll break down my pros and cons-
Awesome story: this kind of explains itself. I'm attempting to not give away any spoilers, 'cause if you're like myself you'll most likely tell yourself you won't click on those spoilers...
But then your fingers find the mouse.
End of story.

Badass characters: the complexity. The depth of personality. The way I became attached to these people- especially Tipp. He now has a place in my heart.

Good romance: it was bland at first. A little boring. But then it EVOLVED. Might have helped that I had just watched If. I kept picturing Jaren with Ryan Reynold's personality. Which helped, considerably.

Unique setting: i had never before read a book where the main character was a prisoner for the entire book AND the book was a fantasy. Unheard of. And a fantasy death/torture prison where Kiva becomes friends with prisoners who are loveable but have questionable backgrounds? You know who I'm talking about.

Plot twistsssss!!!!: there were only a few, but they were great in impact. That's all that needs to be said.

Now for the cons-
Feeling of repetitiveness: some of the main actions seemed to repeat several times, with not much change in story line.

In summary, READ THIS BOOK.
You'd better enjoy it.

Best wishes,
Mira
