Gwendy's Magic Feather by Richard Chizmar
1.0
I knew this book wasn't as well-liked as the first one, but I didn't feel like I should skip it. MY BAD.
It never had a chance with me, because I absolutely hate the "skip 10-20 years in between books" thing that authors do. You know how you can make that even worse? By having the jump into the future result in the protagonist becoming a member of Congress. What a fun twist.
The author's ability to take a concept as interesting as the button box and turn it into a 300+ page snooze fest is astounding. Wanna know how bad it was? I got excited when A HAT entered the story, hoping it would bring some excitement. It did not.
Here's hoping Stephen King was able to swoop in and rescue this abomination with the final entry in the trilogy.
