Very much a cinderella/beauty and the beast/kinda hades and persephone retelling. Though saying that, I do find the plot very interesting and I'm keen to see where the story goes.

I personally find the writing itself to be very average, but the plot was interesting enough to keep me going.

I am disappointed in the lack of exploration into the characters and their relationship and motivations. I feel like there was so much potential to explore them but the plot just rushed ahead instead. I wish we got to spend more time just watching them evolve and grow closer. Their relationship felt very very rushed with the lack of exploration there.

The characters are interesting and I'm keen to learn more about them. Unfortunately I do find Hazel to be a bit flat but I'm hoping that picks up over time.

The world building that I have seen so far is really good so I'm excited to see what else is in store going forward.

Overall I am enjoying the books so far and if you like dark fantasy romance you will probably like this too. But if you're after spice this probably isn't for you, there's no spice in book one and so far i havent seen any in book 2 yet (1/4 way through) so if you want spice from the get go you'll probably want to look elsewhere.
