I have to admit, I was a bit conflicted at the end of this book. On one side, I really loved some of the chapters but on the other, I really disliked the others. Having read a couple of Jhumpa Lahiri's works prior, Unaccustomed Earth would probably rank at the end. Don't get me wrong, the writing is still amazing, but I found too many similarities between the characters in this book and the ones in her other works, it just needed something fresh that it wasn't able to provide. Also, what's with the main characters falling for white people literally all the time?? Still a decent read, but I'd give this book a solid 3.5 stars for its redundancy.
