Those Summer Nights by Laura Silverman

3.0

This is a charming summer romance filled with warmth and nostalgia. "Those Summer Nights" by Laura Silverman offers a charming and realistic journey into the complexities of a passion for sports, loss of family and trying to start a new life.

Through Hannah’s perspective, we learn through alternating timelines how she was once a passionate soccer player with great friends and a strong relationship with her grandmother. After losing her, and parts of herself, she finds herself in trouble which leads her to rehab.

Following presently how Hannah aims to redeem herself and make amends, is both so inspiring and comforting. Change is possible, there is a life outside of what you had once dreamed and romance is for everyone. It was a really wholesome read.

I would like to add that I found the title rather misleading. I had the impression there would be some reference to the musical *Grease*, at least, considering the song *Summer Nights*.

Favourite quote: “I think we all get one person on this earth who truly understands us, one person who sees us fully as we are, our deepest dreams and greatest fears in plain sight.”
