The Days of Abandonment
by Elena Ferrante
stunning portrait of love, loss, and family. the nuance & subtlety with which ferrante depicts olga’s mental and emotional deterioration following her husband’s departure made me even more terrified of grief & rupture than ever before (a truly impressive feat). ferrante’s writing hits the core of what it feels like to be alive & to love, all conveyed through passages of immense poetic loveliness. + mad props to the translator, ann goldstein. u crushed it, queen.
