After reading this, I still can't say that I understand the hype around this series. 😅  I find that there is a distinct lack of significant character development for most characters, but mainly our lead Feyre. That is not to say that she has no development, but that her growth seems minimal for 90% of the book.
I really want to like Feyre, but she seems very childish and unserious and struggles to actually think before she speaks or acts. Every time this happens, I would get pulled out of the scene, which is a shame. I even loved it when she showed signs of depression, because it made her interesting. It gave her something that she needed to understand and work through, learn from and become a better version of herself, for herself.
This book does a much better job than the first book, in terms of pacing, world building, and character communications. There was much more happening in a faster pace than the first book; there were more introductions to places outside of the Spring Court and all the people that reside there, and the characters do actually talk to each other more.
The relationship development between Feyre and Rhys was so much more interesting than her wannabe relationship with Tamlin.
I go back and forth as to if I want to continue the series or not. I think that Sarah J. Maas does a great job of making an ending that teases you with what might come, and with what happened at the end, I think the next book would bring in some really interesting plot lines and dynamics. But the question remains, will the majority of the book be slow and lackluster until the final 20%?
