Strong character development: Complicated
Loveable characters: No
Diverse cast of characters: No
Flaws of characters a main focus: Yes

Any fiction writer would be called audatious for writing an unbelievable plotline of a head of government sharing state secret with his affair - but since Harris takes the real letters from PM Asquith's side and wives them into the story it works.

The characters are difficult to sympathise with (maybe the detective), and the story drags on in the end, even when the outcome is clear. But worth a read!
