Lessia is a half fae. She's had a tough life, living on the streets and then later being imprisoned and then forced to swear a blood oath to a King she hates, living in a world where she's too fae for the humans and too human for the fae.
As the general synopsis tells you, she's being forced to enter human elections. But what it doesn't tell you is how she really is fit to rule. How she is a lot more than what she appears to be, and it's not all immediately apparent.
There are a lot, and I mean A LOT of twists and turns in this book. A number of them I did work out before it was revealed but the bigger ones? Those major gut wrenching twists? I couldn't have guessed them in my wildest dreams and for that I loved it.
There was no point in this book where I felt like the relationship or interactions between the characters felt forced, no point where I felt the story was disjointed. It was interesting enough to draw me in to want more and I really do. The only thing that makes this a 4 rather than a 5 star read was, I didn't feel like I couldn't put the book down.
All I can say this, there's a bigger plot at play, that's only been hinted at. And I can appreciate that because this book really set up the characters beautifully that you almost forget to ask why in the first place. And now I need more.
