Immortal Longings by Chloe Gong
3.0

Chloe Gong is a very fun author. Unfortunately, anytime you write a book about a game to the death, there will inevitably be Hunger Games comparisons, and this definitely fell short. I enjoyed Calla and Anton as characters and I thought the concepts of Chi and body jumping made for an interesting magic system. However, like in her first series, it felt like she introduced more subplots to the story than she could keep track of, which made the games themselves (and even the politics and the magic) really fall to the wayside. There were some good surprises throughout the book and the setting was very rich/distinct, so I do plan on continuing with the series.
