Southern charm strikes again in The Officer’s Ex-Wives Club second book! Last time we were introduced to Kaci and Lance as they went from enemies to lovers. This book was centered on, Jackson (Lance’s friend) and Anna, the newest woman to join Kaci’s club. Freshly divorced and back in school, Anna was in the midst of adjusting to her new life as a single woman, and finishing her education. Jackson was back in Gellings, close to his friends and family, and devoted to his job. Anna and Jackson were familiar with the dynamics within the military, but if there was one thing Anna didn’t want…was being with another man who was in it. This story continued on with familiar faces such as, Kaci and Lance to, “The Officer’s Ex-Wives Club”, and seeing how Anna and Jackson ultimately found themselves inexplicably falling for each other.

Anna was determined to change her life for the better. With the sudden divorce her husband wanted, Anna’s life changed and to be honest it was a good thing! If a man doesn’t love and appreciate you, HE DOESN’T DESERVE YOU! Initially Anna was heartbroken, but gradually came to see that it was for the best, and she had bigger things to focus on such as, herself. Among the things I liked about this book was once again having a woman within the STEM field. I don’t necessarily remember the job title Anna had at her work, but when it came to her going back to school to finish her degree by taking thermodynamics classes, it seemed liked Anna was well within the STEM field similar to Kaci being a physics professor. Anna was driven, and it was nice to see her putting in the hours studying and getting back to what she wanted before her marriage. Plus, aside from all the studying and dealing with work projects, Anna also started to dive back into the ways of flirting…with a CERTAIN SOMEBODY!

At first glance, Jackson seemed like just a dumb jock, redneck…at least that was Anna’s first impression of him. Jackson’s first time meeting Anna was actually kind of cute in that, yes he helped get rid of fire ants inside her car, but also in the way he was flirting with her, and making her smile! I actually liked Jackson a lot more with the way he was endearing, a bit flirtatious, and that southern gentlemanly charm of his was just oh so attractive to me! I think Jackson was a likable character, and I’m sure Anna would agree that there was just something more to Jackson that made him more of a catch. Anytime Jackson appeared, I was excited to see him but also see more of his quiet, yet sweet personality that just stood out to me in the best way possible.

Jackson and Anna obviously liked one another, so what better idea than to be friends with benefits? Both Anna and Jackson had their own issues when it came to committed relationships from Anna not wanting to deal with one especially after her divorce and Jackson just not believing in settling down. Little by little I could see that Anna and Jackson liked being around each other, and they had really good chemistry together. Jackson was more of the quiet, reserved type, but he had this way of bringing out Anna’s sassy, flirtatious side. Anna on the other hand wasn’t use to having such a wonderful gentleman being so accommodating to her from getting her favorite chai latte, spending any free time they had to hang out, or having a man be so protective over her. All in all, Anna and Jackson had a way around each other that was endearing, sweet, and dare I say even those little moments of passion.

Overall, this was a cute, lighthearted, and another enjoyable story in this series. While I liked the first book, I would say Anna and Jackson were more of my favorites in the way that they were. I thought the way Anna and Jackson were together was sweet, lovable, and I could feel their connection across the pages. If I had to describe Anna and Jackson’s romance it would be a combination of, endearing, caring, thoughtful, protective, and the occasional passionate moments too. Anna’s journey from the beginning to the end was a complete change and it ended on a very good note for her. Jackson also had his life change in ways he never saw coming namely with Anna. If you wanna read about a lovable southern gentleman, I think you’ll like Jackson because I really did. I liked seeing Kaci and Lance being part of Anna and Jackson’s story and all of them coming together as great friends and support for one another. Enjoyed Anna and Jackson’s story and it was a good book to read.
