The Stolen Heir by Holly Black

5.0

Holly Black's only mistake throughout this book is that all chapters we're long... and that's unfair to someone who's already CAPTIVATED by the story and doesn't want to stop midchapter.

Holy. Shit.
Elfhame always had a hold on me, and I knew this book would have the same effect, but you can't just leave me hanging like this!

Oak. You can really tell he grew up to be his own person, but you can see the traces of everyone around him in him: Madoc's and Jude's strategy and skills, Cardan's ease and mentality, Vivi's ability to love and hold and cherish, The Bomb's and The Roach's slight of hand and trickery, etc. But you could still see young oak; the one who was terrified of Jude's training, the one who was energetic and without a care in his household, the adorable Oak who loves his sisters unconditionally.

But what I love most about this book is Suren. We get another female main character who's blows you away. Her story and character capture you from the very start and keep you relating to her struggles in your own way while she proves to you there's always more. I am INTENDING to see more of her either way.

I would just like to say, well played Holly. Grateful for the numerous Jude and Cardan references, can't wait to maybe hopefully see them again soon and, now that I've understood this title and made my assumptions about the next one, hope they are true.
