The Circle
by Dave Eggers
pretty hammy in that it is immediately clear what is happening and what it's leading to, especially when the opposition character is introduced. the horrors of late stage capitalism are huge and glowing neon to everyone but the mc and her coworkers, which is the point! i get it. i was frankly nauseated by her meetings with managers and HR though. too real, too cringe-inducing. good shit i can admit.
overall felt like a very clear modern take on 1984, overly verbose moralizing included
