Same great characters, less interesting plot.

Unlike the last book I definitely had no idea where this was going. I had guesses and suspicions but was way off base leaving me pleasantly surprised by the ending. The actual police work was also well done. No Sherlock type moments, just slow methodical work and hope for a clue that will finally progress their search.

Despite the story being well done I was actually less engaged with this book than others. I found none of the characters related to the crime particularly interesting or sympathetic. They all felt very similar in attitudes and motives and I had no one to root for or against. Overall my least favorite book from this series but still an enjoyable read.
