narteest 's review for:
The City of Zirdai
by Maria V. Snyder
Many thanks to Netgalley and Harlequin Australia for the arc in exchange for an honest review.
While I don't have time to write a detailed review now, the sequel to the Eyes of Tamburah is just as good. But it's also much like the first book, action packed, a lot of moving between the city and various other main locations, and a few kidnappings and people being locked up again.
I did very much enjoy the sequel - a biased opinion based on my love for Snyder's books.
It does have it's flaws. The pacing is fast, so fast that so many things happen and you're in one and then out before you know it. Shylah is also super proactive, which is a good and bad thing. Good because she does things and doesn't waste time about it. Bad because it makes you wonder just how complex everything should be if she could organise for it to be cracked open easily. Nonetheless, it all comes together well enough.
A much more comprehensive review soon!
