Never have I been completely hallowed out by something I read before. And I don't mean that in an edgy way where I'm counting it because of the sheer violence included in the story. It was horrible when I finished and not just because of how attached I was. To the story, to the characters, to Punpun and Aiko, and everything that they've been through. It's visceral and unafraid and has such an honesty to it that it's disgusting. I don't think I'll ever find that in anything ever again. When I got to the end it was emotional how everything was not fine but he will try to be. That once you've reached rock bottom, the only way is up. Simultaneously the best thing and the worst thing I've done to my head once I finished it all.
Heed all content warnings. Personally won't try to read if I'm not in a good place mentally.
