This comic collection is rather bland. I chuckled once or twice, but for the most part, I just skimmed through, seeing many of the same messages and punchlines repeated in different forms. Also, a large number of these comics aren't even intended to be funny, and are just supposed to be relatable. I found some of the comics clever and interesting, but many were no different from book lover memes that you might see on Facebook.

I had even less interest in the comics that emphasized writing. Even though I could have related to these even more, I just found them boring and pretentious, because the author didn't mine for any deep humor. He just emphasized the usual messages about writer's block, caffeine, feeling alternate joy and despair over one's work, and every other trope in the writing-about-writing playbook.

Also, even though this book already idealized readers as Special and Unique Creatures, the creative writing element seemed to suggest that you must also have literary aspirations to be Truly Special and Deep. There's nothing truly offensive or wrong about this book, and it has some very creative ideas in it, but overall, it didn't appeal to me, and isn't something that I would recommend.
