A Not So Meet Cute by Meghan Quinn

funny medium-paced
  • Plot- or character-driven? A mix
  • Strong character development? It's complicated
  • Loveable characters? It's complicated

3.0

This was my first Meghan Quinn story and I figured I’d enjoy it because I appreciate the tropes of the story.

One thing I was not prepared for was the involvement of pregnancy in this story, so be warned.

I have mixed feelings on the book.

Things I enjoyed include: the funny banter between Hux and Lottie, the slow burn sexiness of this story and the alpha possessiveness of Hux with Lottie.

Things I really didn’t enjoy include: Lottie’s absolute fixation on how Angela is a terrible friend and screwed her over (girl… you knew this for ages, get over it…), her inability to stop crying at the end after Hux accused her of telling Ellie (I get it, you’re betrayed and sad, but that you can’t stop crying for 24 hours after a few weeks seems a bit… much), the fake pregnancy angle (again, why?!) and the absolute robotic nature of Hux throughout most of the story.

The potential for more was here and it isn’t going to stop me from
Checking out more of her stories, because the writing wasn’t bad and the spice was nice, but this story did require you to suspend belief in realistic timelines and to believe that a handsome, rich, billionaire wouldn’t have women knocking down his door.
