Caraval by Stephanie Garber

5.0

there may be a few things that could possibly make caraval a not five-star read, but my heart says it's a five-star so it is.
where do i even start? is it with the enchanting world-building and setting that garber presented? is it the bewitching characters that revealed something new about them on every page? was it the swoon-worthy moments in the romance that left me needing a moment to scream into my pillow to recover?
a mix of all?
caraval is a book that i think would possibly kill me. the captivating writing style, quotes, just the whole environment of this book delighted me to the first page to the last.
i am so excited for the next two books, to meet legend and other characters: legendary is written from tella's perspective?!?!?!?!
scarlett is a character that may seem a little bland on paper, but her honestly, loyalty and character growth set her apart from the rest. i fell in love with her slowly, with every decision she made, or choice she achieved.
the game was so interesting caraval is a world i wish to see or visit.
the one thing that leaves me wondering is i wish we could've seen more of the other competitors discovering clues or more of the actual game part, because it did not feel like a game. especially in the dark and stolen moments, my focus was definitely more on the characters and plot than on the actual game aspect to the story.
