This was so good. I read it after a Twitter friend had recommended trying some Middle Grade reading for when I just don't want to adult!

I liked that I recognized some characters: John Henry, The Brehr, (Fox, Bear, Rabbit).
I thought I was going to hate Gum Baby, and she is my FAVORITE character. Seriously love her. *SAP ATTACK*

The story is just wonderfully told. It had some confusing moments, some nail biting moments, and some inspiring moments. They all help make this a wonderful book. Tristan learns more about his family, himself, his friend, and his new friends. He learns that everything is not always what it seems.

I'll be looking for the next books by Kwame Mbalia. Particularly the ones that include Tristan Strong.
