To whom it may concern,

This book was fucking fantastic. I am now a devoted Ann Liang stan because how the actual fuck did she know that I used to be exactly like Sadie before 2020? I believe Sadie is who I could’ve been in another lifetime. She is me. I am her.

Above all else this book is so funny. The humor she puts in her writing, while also making it so beautiful is amazing. I flew through this because I got lost in the pages and was inside the book itself. That’s how great the writing was.

The plot of this is so hilarious to me. Sadie is so valid for writing those emails though!!! She did nothing wrong in my opinion. I loved her so much and wish nothing but the best for her.

HER GUILT. The way she is because of
her telling her dad to go away and him never coming back??? Sobbing on the floor. When I read that flashback, I was tearing up. She’s held that belief in her for the longest time and it just makes me so sad!! And the fact that she swallowed that bone because she didn’t want to BOTHER ANYONE???? Oh my god! Sobbing.

Her relationship with her family is so honorable. The way she does everything for them and is truly very selfless is amazing. This is a Sadie Wen fan club. Join the club!

I also liked her friendship with Abigail. They were like polar opposites but fit together so well.
I should’ve guessed that she’s the one that sent the emails but I was just so shocked in the moment, I couldn’t think straight.😭😭

Abigail was such an interesting character. I liked how she was always looking out for Sadie and her best interests. The bus scene when she said that so loudly made me laugh so fucking hard for no reason. Abigail was just chaotic I loved it.

Julius! My man. I love cold mysterious broody men. Hot AND smart? Wow that just made you an 11/10. He was also so funny. I liked how he was lowkey so down bad for Sadie, but struggled with actually letting her know.

HIM SCRUBBING THE WALL OF WHAT THAT STUPID DANNY WROTE! HIM WINNING FOR HER! HIM STAYING TO HELP CLEAN WITH HER! HIM SEARCHING UP THE BAKERY JUST TO FIND HER FOR A DISTRACTION! HIM UNFOLLOWING THAT GIRL AS SOON AS SHE LEFT!

I wish Julius Gong was real. He deserves to be real. His brother/family issues in general made me want to hug him forever. The email at the very end was so fucking cute!!!!

SadieJulius world domination. This academic rivals to lovers is done so well, I actually cry. Maybe I need to read more academic rivals to lovers because this is something I didn’t know I needed in my life.

If you haven’t read this, what the hell are you doing sitting here reading this? GO READ IT NOW!!!

Also, this may be my first Ann Liang book, but it certainly won’t be my last.

Love,
