Okay, I did NOT expect the entire first half of this book to be the first book rewritten in the other POV… and you know what, I’m not even a little mad about it. It was super spicy and I’m here for allllll the pining. Plus, I think getting the chance to get into Malachi’s mind a little and see that he’s not a total psychopath (especially after what he did to daddy dearest 😬) was probably needed. Don’t get me wrong, he was already fantastic but knowing what he was thinking and seeing things from his perspective made him so much better.

Getting a little more background on why Malachi is the way he is was also great. His past and childhood were dark and sad so it’s no wonder he feels so disconnected from the world and found a way to protect himself.

Picking up where we left off kind of threw me for a loop but once got acclimated, I had a great time. There were so many new elements to the story when it was from his POV. And of course there were a lot more pages to explore parts of their story.

The situation with Xander and his family wasn’t something I expected to take up so much space but it added some conflict (that wasn’t between our main characters, thankfully) and some tension. I was biting my nails and couldn’t put the book down for the last 150 pages.

And my gosh, the epilogues were my favorite! I love getting to see what they’re up to down the road and not just a month or a year.

My only question is… can we get a story on Abigail and the Reznikov brothers orrrr…? 🥲
