Far From the Madding Crowd by Thomas Hardy

3.0

This was an improvement over "Jude", but I still enjoyed it a little less than "Tess". Some lovely turns of phrase, but also some infuriating scenes. I think I just need to accept that whenever I read something by Hardy I need to be prepared for the anger his characters are going to bring! He certainly seemed to push the envelope for what was acceptable to write about during his time, and I think that bold spirit is part of what has kept his books so popular. Glad that I got around to this one!
