The Mind Readers by Lori Brighton

3.0

What a dumb ending. That wasn't even a cliff-hanger.
"Hey, I'm Maddox. I know your dad. Nope, he's not dead. You need to come with me or you'll die."
Really, Brighton?

Obviously, I just finished the book since I'm ranting about its dissapointing ending.
On a positive note..
Brighton used the words contrite, erratically, sashayed, disconcerting, esconced, invasive, irate, and unequivocally. I'm so proud.
But: she repeated morose and nefarious twice. Repeating words is a major pet peeve to me.
Anyway:
Towards the middle of The Mind Readers, I grew irritable with Brighton's plot, which seemed to drag out considerably long. Cameron's trust issues set off my anger problems, but Brighton made up for that later when she revealed an interesting power Lewis had. In fact, most of my annoyances and issues were settled toward the end.
I was actually left content.
UNTIL:
The big plot twist occurred.
Aaron turned evil and his true intentions were revealed.

Major interest was sparked.
UNTIL:
Aaron's evilness grew and Cameron kept failing epically to escape. (Gahhhh! Just let her leave! -rips out hair-)

So in other words, I thought the beginning was okay, the middle sucked, the almost end was great, and the ending sucked.

I really don't know how to rate that..

Needless to say, during the good parts of the book, Brighton toyed with my emotions BIG TIME (I cried on multiple accounts) and left me thinking about how much this book has improved.
But:
The Mind Readers could've been better and could've sucked way less in some parts.

I found many ... (dot dot dot) rules unfollowed, but can remain unseen to the untrained eye. It wasn't a biggie or a MAJOR annoyance, but I just wanted to point that out. :D

So overall overall, Lewis sucks, Cameron and Maddox should be together, Cameron should always trust her gut (and ONLY her gut--nobody else) and not be so naiive and gullible next time, and I will be reading the next book in the series upon releasement. (New word)

Oh, btw:
Lewis = Liam Payne < helped me visualize the character better..since I simply couldn't.
Cameron = I'm still looking for the right Cameron, but stay tuned..
