i read this and immediately went back to the beginning and read it over again (it’s very short this is not a flex) and thought it just as impactful and clever, if not more, the second time.
i always think it’s a testament to an authors skill if they can pack such density of meaning into such a minuscule page count (god knows concise is hardly my middle name). somehow keegan crams such a compelling critique of the insidious banality of misogyny (through the eyes of a man barred from happiness by his own) into 60 pages.
i’ve had keegan’s ‘small things like these’ on my to read list for a while so snapped this titchy novella up from my e-library as a detox from the 600 page monsters i’ve been on a run with and i’m so glad i did.
short, sharp and packs a hell of punch.
