The Fault in Our Stars by John Green

3.0

I needed a day to sort out how I felt about TFIOS. I enjoyed it (but not "best book ever love") but it didn't give me tear inducing feels nor did it wow me to death. Probably because I figured a love story about two kids with cancer would be happy & then sad; nevermind that I correctly guessed who it would probably be not even halfway through. John Greens writing style was nice and easy to follow with humor sprinkled throughout but I found (just like I did with Will Grayson, Will Grayson), but it felt a little forced at times. I also liked the secondary characters more than the main characters. I liked Hazel and liked Gus, but I really wanted more Isaac or even Hazels parents. I remember thinking, "aww, well that's sweet" or "that's awfully sad", but more so towards the end (eulogy practice was the best scene in the whole book). That being said, it IS a story that I kept thinking throughout the next day and for me, that's a good book.
