A beautiful book about the interwoven lives of 2 women growing up in Iran during the rise of the religious revolution. The way the author wrote these characters, I truly felt like I knew them myself. Probably some of the strongest character development I’ve seen.
My one flaw (very minor) is that it feels like a few characters(Homa and Mehrdad ) are “too” perfect. She is smart, outspoken, caring, loyal, inclusive, etc. Even the parts where she is supposedly mean, it is for a good reason.
The span of their lives is vast but written succinctly and it is easy to follow. I would highly recommend this book.
