The moral of the story is that Trans kids are resilient. I love that this monster book ended in no trans people dying but it did end with a happily ever after. The book deals with how we address trans death(especially in the context of our trancestors’ murders and suicides) specifically looking at Brandon Teena and Leelah Alcorn who committed suicide in 2014 when she was 17, or the death of Brandon Teena which was popularized in the queer canon through the 1999 film “Boys don’t cry” for which Hilary swank won an award for her portrayal of Brandon. This book is so important to read especially if you are a young trans person. Trans people are resilient no matter what life throws at us!
