A Princess for Christmas by Jenny Holiday

2.0

Take a shot every time characters in the book compare their lives to a Hallmark movie. Take a shot every time dimples are mentioned. Take a shot every time arm veins are mentioned.

I really struggled to finish this book... part of me questions why I didn't dnf but at the same time I just needed to know the ending even though every piece of it was completely obvious.

I've seen several people rave about this book and compare it to a Hallmark movie...but this was not a Hallmark movie in book form. Really friends don't be fooled by the cover, because there are some steamy scenes. And don't think they're great steamy scenes because the dialogue had me rolling my eyes, but they're still steamy regardless. I mean the only thing comparable to a Hallmark movie was the storyline I guess? And the name of the country Eldovia...sounds a lot like the Christmas princess movies on Netflix. And as @essentiallybooked even said Genovia. Can we get some names of countries that are a little original and not all end in "ovia"???????

Sure there were moments that made me laugh but they were pretty rare. The story was choppy and suddenly things were happening and I'm sorry.. but I'm tired of the trope where the woman from another country or who is a royal of some kind is this innocent doe eyed human who doesn't understand euphemisms when she's clearly lived a life that isn't sheltered. It doesn't make sense.

This book was sent to me as a gifted copy. I'm looking forward to moving on to my next read.
