This book felt like I was looking at someone's most private, most vulnerable thoughts. It felt so intimate that I switched from listening to reading because it felt less voyeuristic that way.
Anyway, the book, which I believe has been translated into English, follows Bo, an old man who fights his son to keep his beloved jämthund Sixten.
Jämthund is a strong type of dogs from northern Sweden (province of Jämtland) that are typically used for hunting large game.
At the opening of the book, it is clear that Bo can no longer take care of Sixten the way he should.
Through the main push and pull between father and son, we get to follow Bo's life, his own relationship with his father, his wife and his best friend Ture.
It is an incredible journey into the most inner rooms of a man's soul as well as a great representation of day-to-day life, customs and norms of a Swedish society now long gone.
A must read!!
