Ducks, Newburyport by Lucy Ellmann

4.0

This book could probably have been shorter, and it was a bit of a slog to get through, but oh boy was it good. It's primarily about gun violence in the U.S. and really elevates for a non-U.S. audience how central guns are to American culture (it's secondarily about other very current political & environmental issues). It's surprisingly easy to get into, and to pick up once you've put it down considering the structure of the narrative. The last 100 or so pages were where it really picked up and there are some pages that are sheer brilliance that shine through. Also, I love Stacy she is a babe.
