Far superior to book 1.

True enemies to lovers. The heart wrenching emotional moments had my eyes welling with tears a few times. The author did such a lovely job contrasting the FMCs hard protective exterior with her internal struggle. She’s been fed a lie the entirety of her life and the emotional burden is heavy.

The crumbling and subsequent dismantling of who she thought she was and her purpose in life is an emotional reckoning—one she takes full responsibility for.

Pair that with the author once again trotting out my favorite trope of the MMC having a preconceived idea of who the FMC is as a person and slowly learning the error of his faulty assumption and we get some really heartfelt, vulnerable moments from both protagonists.
