I really enjoyed the writing style and appreciated how much I learned while reading this book. I found the themes of family dynamics, body dysmorphia in today’s society, and the struggle of self-discovery particularly compelling.
Every now and then, I enjoy books with an anticlimactic style, so I wasn’t expecting a particularly remarkable ending. I appreciated how it aligned with the book’s overall atmosphere and that the author didn’t feel the need to provide a neatly satisfying conclusion. However, the ending still didn’t fully work for me, and I struggled to find a clear takeaway from the story—though, of course, not every story needs one.
PS: I would have loved to read it in the original language, but unfortunately, I couldn’t find a copy at my library. However, I’ll definitely watch the movie in French.
