I started off the new year by re-reading this books (or rather, finishing my re-read of it) and it’s only made it grow nearer and dearer to my heart. Now more than ever do I want to sail to the island of Guernsey and live out my days in a cottage by the sea, devouring book after book. The story being told through letter writing makes it feel homely and has made me long to write letters again. (Cas, if you’re reading this, i want to start writing to you. I want to be remembered through letters after I die.) I fell in love with every one of the characters and felt as if I was in The Society myself, amongst friends. This book easily makes me fall in love with reading again too! This past year I’ve been in quite the reading slump, but seeing the joy of reading portrayed so poetically on paper has warmed my heart to it again. Next on my list is Jane Eyre, thanks to Isola Pribby! I feel as if I’ve begun the new year on a perfect note, with a love for the simplicities of life.
