The History of Bees by Maja Lunde

4.0

Lunde does a grand job at imagining 3 distinct time periods but unfortunately applies a beehive pattern approach to the narrative for each one. It felt at times that the lines were being blurred between the three time segments by the sameness of characters bodily felt experiences. The part that had me most intrigued was the missing boy. That to me could have been utilized in a greater way than it was. The ending was weak in that it didn't feel as real as it could be. Nothing is mentioned of the domestic bee vs the wild bee.
