Why We Sleep: Unlocking the Power of Sleep and Dreams by Matthew Walker

5.0

I fully agree with everyone that says it is fascinating yet frightening. I freeking love this book. He makes me want to do more of my own research into sleep. A lot of the examples of how to repair your sleep cycle I already knew about, but I didn’t really know why we have to do those things. And I learned so much about the restorative and developmental properties of sleep. It really is magical—after reading this book I no longer can say magic does not exist in this universe. It made my heart happy to see the connections between capitalism and shorter life span/quality as well, as society seems to be hesitant to investigate and quantify these ties. Just as Susan Cain’s book “Quiet” made my own struggles with being an introvert valid, so did this book regarding my sleep issues. Stellar.
