SPOILER ALERT
Deep breath in. Wow. First let me say that this is the end of ANOTHER Sara Cate series. These Goode Brothers ran us through the wringer!! The story of Isaac (Theo) was the best ending to a lot of feelings and heartbreak over the last 3 books.
Theo Virgil is the country star who ran away 11 years ago after he couldn't stay under his father's homophobic and overly religious home. Leaving behind his 3 other brothers, he made a name for himself in the music world.
Theo (Isaac) carries so much pain. Pain, loneliness and guilt fill him and although he has fame and good friends he knows what he left when he ran.
Jensen is the pastor who took over the church that Adam and Truitt ran after Truitt's downfall and Adam's meltdown. Jensen is carrying his own secrets, shame and fear overtake him daily. When Jensen gets a chance to see Theo in concert, he takes it. And something starts to unravel.
The two men collide in lust and fun and shame. Neither of them can safely come out and live as their true authentic selves. Sneaking around, private meetings, hot π₯ sex... but they want to be just who they are. They work to build their relationship after some pretty tense and revealing times, but eventually Jensen and Isaac decide it's time for Isaac to go home.
Pressure, family, hidden sexuality, pain, secrets all collide. But love is love in any form, and it prevails. This book is so emotional on every level. I smirked and cried and broke and swooned and π₯΅. Perfect ending to the series.
Thank you for addressing some tough topics, Sara. You handed them so well and also helped the characters to heal properly. **check trigger warnings**
