Whew. This is a dark one. There there follows a large cast of interwoven characters in the lead up to a pow wow in Oakland, CA. It is beautifully written, and I think it’s one that I should have read in physical form rather than by audio, as it was difficult to keep straight the large cast of characters as the novel progressed. The ending was darker and harder to read than I expected (though I maybe should  have expected that). Beautiful prose but hard to read (which may be part of the point). Glad I read it but would be difficult to revisit.
