I was on the edge of my seat from the first page. I couldn't wait to see how it all unfolded and it all definitely took me by surprise. This one had an added layer of mystery, suspense, thrill. And as I realized how little I knew about history of these time periods. Gabrielle Meyer puts the perfect amount of history, intrigue, and romance in her stories and I love it!
I also love that this series' books are always unique from each other and Meyer keeps it fresh. This one was so intriguing and interesting. I loved that both timelines revolved around the same historical event but in different ways. It added so many layers. The story was chilling and definitely added that thrill factor. And I love how the author always keeps you second guessing your predictions.
I really enjoyed the romance as well. I loved their devotion to each other and the history they shared and how that played into their romance and the story. Katherine was headstrong and curious and brave and I loved how protective her love interest was while also letting her be herself.
There were so many connections and twists. The side characters were very intriguing and I kept guessing how they would play into the overall story. I didn't see the twists coming and I think that has a ton to do with the world building and character profiles Meyer's develops. Such a thrilling and mysterious story!!
