losersfiction 's review for:
Gathering Blue
by Lois Lowry
This book was very good, and provides a new perspective on the universe started by “The Giver”. In the Giver, a boy runs away from a slightly corrupt or at least misguided tribe. He then either founds or finds a new tribe of people, and that new tribe is the mysterious tribe that this book alludes to toward the end. So this book takes place in another tribe where things are even worse, and a little boy (friend of the main character) rubs away to the other tribe that was founded or found in the Giver.
I loved the characters of this book, and there was some very jarring descriptions of impoverished living. I also liked the main characters mantra that pain made her strong. I do plan on reading the rest in the Quartet, so perhaps that will flesh out the universe even more.
