After finishing the first Shannara book, I told Brendan that I was not very impressed with it, and he told me to read the second, The Elfstones of Shannara, saying it was his favorite in the whole series (and there are a lot of books in the series). So I read it.
I'll admit it was better than the first book, and I finished this one also, but I really never connected with it. It's too similar to a lot of other Tolkien-mimicking fantasy of the 80s and 90s. I did not read the rest of the series, and do not plan to.
