I'm sad to say this was my least favourite book in the series. I found myself a lot less enthralled this time, perhaps because certain elements started feeling familiar and less magical somehow. Also there was no way

Wendell would die half way through the book, so that plot point felt unnecessary and didn't create much tension at all when Wendell was so obviously not dead and would soon be resurrected.

That said, the writing was it's usual mix of humorous and poignant in places making for a pleasant read. I just wish there had been something a little fresher to the story and some real stakes to the story.
