The War of the Worlds by H.G. Wells

3.0

Intriguing book from the dawn of the science fiction era. The most remarkable feature of this novel lies in its uncanny ability - chronicled at length elsewhere - to anticipate armored warfare, chemical warfare, biological warfare, invasive species, missile detection technology and PTSD. The movie adaptations, while different in settings from this novel, still manage to cop most of the major story points in one way or another. I read The Time Machine about 8 years ago, I'm pleased I finally finished this one off too. Recommended for hardcore sci fi aficionados.
