The Adventures of Amina Al-Sirafi by S.A. Chakraborty

This was fun but not as absorbing or coherent of a narrative as the Daevabad trilogy. At times it felt like the author wasn’t quite sure what to do to make the story move along and relied on tropes to get past that. I’m hoping that the next book will be a bit stronger.
