Flame in the Mist by Renée Ahdieh

5.0

This book is incredible and it absolutely took my breath away. It's action packed, interesting and so captivating. You get a look into Japanese culture and mythology. The characters are beautifully developped and they're all important for the story. Nothing is the way it seems and there's a lot that you won't see coming so if you're someone who enjoys plot twists and being surprised - it's going to happen a lot in this book.
There's not that much romance but there is some and it is absolutely wonderful.
The writing is amazing as well, Renee writes beautiful descriptions and the dialogues are great too. I felt like the dialogues were sometimes a little too dramatic, but overall, I adored this book.
It's been called a Mulan retelling, but that's not completely accurate - there are for sure some differences. But the vibe is quite similar and the main character pretends to be a boy in this book too.
I loved it more than I'd expected and I suggest you all to check it out if you're looking for a rich world full of great characters and wonderful descriptions.
