Shiver by Maggie Stiefvater

3.0

My first reread of the year!! I remember reading this when I was like 12 and being completely obsessed with it. I figured I’d reread it now that I’m an adult to see how it holds up, and it did… kinda. The first half, I’m not gonna lie, was ruff (get it?? Cause it’s a werewolf book.. and y’know… dogs go ruff??like barking?? get it???) I thought Sam and Grace got together wayyy too early. I get why Sam was in love with her because of how he saw her as human, but Grace only saw Sam as a wolf. He was just a wolf to her, she had no idea of his human side, but it was still insinuated that she was in love with him for those years. Idk I thought that was weird. Another thing that wasn’t my favorite were the characters, especially the women. I thought they were more boring than the male characters, which sucks!! Grace was okay, but I can’t really pinpoint her character development, but I can with Sam!! Once I got to the second half, I saw the beginning stages of Maggie Stiefvater’s signature writing style that I love oh so much. Overall, I actually enjoyed reading this book, and I might continue with the series!!
