Since I'm only loaning this from a friend while in Ireland, I can't mark up my copy and analyze it to the extent that I wish I could. However, I will say that I am in love with Didion's deception of effortlessness. She's so easy to read, and she makes any "subject" interesting, and when you look closer you realize just how laborious and intricate her syntax is. It's just so fun and cool. She has this trait of observation that I admire so deeply. Big fan of the essay on Rober Mapplethorpe in particular.
