Beautifully Broken Spirit by Catherine Cowles

I adore this series! I’ve loved Catherine’s books since I read her debut novel, and I can’t get enough of her writing now. Catherine is a master of writing small town romance with just the right amount of romantic suspense, and Beautifully Broken Spirit is probably the best she’s written yet!

I’ve been desperately waiting for Tuck and Jensen’s story since I first met them in Beautifully Broken Pieces. Jensen has had such a tough time throughout this series, and I desperately wanted to see her get her happy ending. And Tuck’s troubles went so much deeper than I ever imagined. Bringing these two together to help each other heal was such a wise decision on Catherine’s part, and made for such an amazing story.

The best part of Catherine’s writing is the fact that she always weaves an element of suspense into her overall story arc. It’s always so well done, and even readers who aren’t huge fans of romantic suspense (me included) will enjoy her books because of the way that she works through her storyline and writing. Plus, her characters are so incredible, and so well fleshed out and well rounded that I fall so deeply into the story I can’t help but become entirely immersed in the small town of Sutter Lake.

Jensen and Tuck have fought their feelings for so long, and Jensen is completely opposed to feeling any bit of happiness due to factors that have been out of her control from the very beginning. When she does allow herself to feel some happiness, it becomes evident that someone does not want her to be happy. It’s up to her and Jensen to figure out what is going on, and I was left guessing the entire time as to who the “bad” guy really was.

This was a solid performance from Catherine, and I can’t wait to see what other treasures she has in store for us in her upcoming writings because with each book, she just keeps getting better and better.
