Queen James: The Life and Loves of Britain's First King
by Gareth Russell
Well researched story of the personal life and times of king James VI or Scotland, who became King James I or England. He had the best dynastic claim to the English throne, through is mother (Mary Queen of Scots) which is best proven by the fact that Elizabeth I had Mary executed as a rival. The author doesn’t ignore the politics and events, but clearly states that this is not a political biography, but rather one of the many loves of James.
