Smolder by Mika Nix
4.0
Smolder is the second book in the Drake Security series written by Mika Nix. Mika Nix is the combined paranormal alter egos of authors K.M. Neuhold and Mia Monroe. Smolder is a MM shifter romance with a guaranteed happily ever after and no mpreg. It's told in a first person dual point of view. You can expect fated mates, dragon shifters, a shared love of books, ancient mysteries, and magic. Although this book can be read as a standalone, it's much better if you read it in order.
About: Ever since Hemingway's brother found his fated mate, he can't help but desire one himself. His dragon certainly wants one and has become increasingly restless. Dempsey hired Drake Security for protection for an unknown threat against his antique store. His new bodyguard, Hemingway, is captivating but there's no way a man like that could want a man like Dempsey, right? Hemingway's drawn to Dempsey in a way that seems awfully...fated, however, the problems at his store are well above Drake Security's paygrade.
This was another steamy and relatively low angst read from the fantastic duo of K.M. Neuhold and Mia Monroe. This dragon shifter series they've crafted has just been so much fun, and I really enjoyed the paranormal mystery aspect of this specific one. I loved Hemingway and Dempsey as they navigated their complicated feelings for one another. We got to meet some new characters that I hope we'll see again, and it was great getting to meet the Drake family a little bit more...including the brothers' parents! I think this series would be a great introduction to the world of shifter/paranormal romance, and I enjoy the bodyguard/security aspect of it.

His words burrow into my chest, and I add them to the little personal hoard of my own I’ve started building. A hoard full of moments and memories of all the ways he’s making me fall in love with him.
